Your Gut microbiota is a home for trillions of microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, viruses etc. that live in the human digestive tract and this collectively is known as microbiome. These diversity of microorganisms make up your microbiome, and they play a crucial role in maintaining your overall health. Now, let's talk about the Good diversity and the Bad Diversity of your gut microbiome.
On the other hand, the gut with bad diversity and an imbalance of the gut bacteria, also known as Dysbiosis, can contribute to:
Dysbiosis could trigger inflammation and give rise to leaky gut, malabsorption of nutrients, less bio - absorption of nutrients, and other digestive issues, building a poor gut health.
Your Gut is not just a digestive system, it is the centre of your emotional and physical health as well. The entire universe lives in our system, everything is connected, and ''As we Humans are to the Earth, Our Gut is to the whole Body.'' It starts with the Gut.
Your emotions are connected to your gut. Why do we use the phrase - ''pay attention to your gut instincts''', because it's scientifically proven that your gut and mind are in connection through an axis, known as Gut Brain Axis. Multiple neurotransmitters are present inside us and to keep them happy, depends on how you treat your Gut.
Common neurotransmitters include serotonin , epinephrine , dopamine , acetylcholine , and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). If you are friendly, easy going and a good listener to your Gut, your gut will do the same for you and release the happy hormone called Serotonin. The other way, if you are not listening nor taking care of your gut, then it will lower the production of the happy hormones and you might feel low, have headache, low energy, all because you are not listening to your Gut. This interferes with the absorption of nutrients and makes your body deficient in potent nutrients, vitamins or minerals.
Well, there is also an internal clock present in your system which is responsible for maintaining overall health. This internal clock is known to be 'Circadian Rhythm'. Circadian rhythm of your body is in the daily routine you follow. Maintaining the homeostasis of your circadian rhythm is very vital if you don't want any hormonal imbalance, sleep issues and other metabolic health conditions to occur.
A Healthy microbiome can be maintained by eating a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and all the macronutrients (Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats). Indulging yourself in daily physical activity. Journaling and meditation to relieve stress and taking good quality sleep.
So for the microbiome magic to happen - Start listening to your gut and taking steps toward building a better gut health.
